NEW POLE SITTER: Jones takes maiden WorldWCR pole, Herrera P2 as Boudesseul secures first front row

British rider made a late move up the timesheets to steal pole from current title leader Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team).

The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship kicked off its penultimate round at the scenic Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours after a month-long summer break. Chloe Jones (GR Motorsport) topped the timesheets to secure her first Tissot Superpole pole position, ahead of Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) and Lucie Boudesseul (GMT94-YAMAHA) to form Saturday’s front row.

JONES STRIKES LATE: The British rider shuffles Herrera and Boudesseul aside for her first-ever WorldWCR pole

Chloe Jones (GR Motorsport) struck gold with mere minutes to go when her 1’51.868s time boosted her to the top of the timesheet. Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) is looking to clinch her first WorldWCR title as she sits nine points ahead of her primary title contender, Beatriz Nelia (Ampito Crescent Yamaha). In that pursuit, she will start from P2 thanks to her 1’51.926s time. To clinch the title, if the #6 can outscore Neila by 41 points on the weekend, the title will be hers regardless of what happens in the season’s final round at Jerez. Home hero Lucie Boudesseul (GMT94-YAMAHA) set her personal best Superpole result in the session, elevated there through her 1’52.050s effort.

NEILA SLIDES TO SECOND ROW: The Spanish title contender had limited running time due to a Turn 5 tumble early in the round

Sara Sanchez (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team) improved from her P6 Superpole effort at Balaton to earn P4, just over four hundredths of a second faster than Neila’s time of 1’52.301s. Neila’s time on track was hampered due to a Turn 5 spill, which she returned from. Natalia Rivera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR Team) showed strong pace in the session, setting a new personal best Superpole result. Her 1’53.011s time earned her P6.

STRONG SHOWING AT HOME: French wildcards Vieillard and Pedemonte both qualify top 10

French wildcard riders Line Vieillard (FT Racing Academy) and Justine Pedemonte (MDS) performed well to earn third row finishes in the session, earning P7 and P9 respectively. Between the French pair, Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team)’s 1’53.097s time saw her finish 1.229s off of Jones’ pace, the effort landing her P8. Closing out the top 10, Aussie rider Tayla Relph (Full Throttle Racing) earned P10 via her 1’53.385s time.
